Overview

The Tanzania Federation of Crafts & Arts (TAFCA) is an umbrella organization established in 2010 by a vari­ety of art and crafts associations, networks and other such institutions to serve their common interests in the areas of artistic development, art business and general improvement of their income and social welfare. It was registered by the National Arts Council (BASATA) vide Registration Certificate No. BST/4616 of 1 February 2011.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a strong organization that unites artists in arts and crafts to promote the development of art, artists, art businesses, income, and the overall quality of Tanzanian culture.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower and support artists in arts and crafts by providing them with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and professional development. We aim to foster a vibrant and sustainable artistic community that contributes to the cultural enrichment, economic prosperity, and social well-being of Tanzania. Through advocacy, education, and networking initiatives, we strive to promote the value of artistic expression, preserve cultural heritage, and create avenues for artists to thrive in a dynamic and inclusive creative environment..

Our Objectives

  • To facilitate member institutions to work towards common goals
  • To serve as a watchdog of artists moral and financial rights
  • To conduct research into artistic, technical, production, marketing and management issues
  • To collect and disseminate art and craft information and data for use by members and other stakeholders.
  • To organize major art and craft events such as national and international exhibitions
  • To award people and institutions for exemplary contribution to the development of art and crafts in Tanzania.
  • To provide training for people involved in the creation, production and marketing of art and craft products as well as those involved in managing and administering art and crafts establishments
  • To advise the government and other public institutions, such as the National Arts Council, on the best ways to develop art and crafts in the country.
  • To organize forums to facilitate exchange of ideas, experiences and expertise through workshops, seminars, conferences and colloquiums.
  • To keep records about its members, their works and any other important information.

Our Management

The Federation has a three-tier management structure as follows:

  • The Annual General Meeting which is held once a year.

  • The Executive Committee responsible overseeing for seeing day to day operations of the Federation.

  • The Secretariat, under the leadership of the Secretary General, is responsible for carrying out operations of the Federation as decided by the Executive Committee.
