The Tanzania Federation of Crafts & Arts (TAFCA)
The Tanzania Federation of Crafts & Arts (TAFCA) is an umbrella organization established in 2010 by a variÂety of art and crafts associations, networks and other such institutions to serve their common interests in the areas of artistic development, art business and general improvement of their income and social welfare. It was registered by the National Arts Council (BASATA) vide Registration Certificate No. BST/4616 of 1 February 2011.

Our vision is to be a strong organization that unites artists in arts and crafts to promote the development of art, artists, art businesses, income, and the overall quality of Tanzanian culture.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower and support artists in arts and crafts by providing them with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and professional development. We aim to foster a vibrant and sustainable artistic community that contributes to the cultural enrichment, economic prosperity, and social well-being of Tan¬zania. Through advocacy, education, and networking initiatives, we strive to promote the value of artistic expression, preserve cultural heritage, and create avenues for artists to thrive in a dynamic and inclusive creative environment.
Our Objectives
- To facilitate member institutions to work towards common goals
- To serve as a watchdog of artists moral and financial rights
- To conduct research into artistic, technical, production, marketing and management issues
- To collect and disseminate art and craft information and data for use by members and other stakeholders.
- To organize major art and craft events such as national and international exhibitions
- To award people and institutions for exemplary contribution to the development of art and crafts in Tanzania.
- To provide training for people involved in the creation, production and marketing of art and craft products as well as those involved in managing and administering art and crafts establishments
- To advise the government and other public institutions, such as the National Arts Council, on the best ways to develop art and crafts in the country.
- To organize forums to facilitate exchange of ideas, experiences and expertise through workshops, seminars, conferences and colloquiums.
- To keep records about its members, their works and any other important information.
Our Management

Financing of the Federation
- Membership mandatory fees and annual contributions, the amount of which is determined by the AGM
- Support from individuals and local and international organizations and institutions
- Commissions or fees paid to the Federation for consultancy and other services performed by it

- The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports which formulates and monitors implementation of the national culture policy.
- The National Arts Council (BASATA) responsible for overseeing activities of arts
- The Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA) is vested with powers to administer the Copyright Act No. 7 of 1999.
- The National Museums have permanent and temporary exhibitions of historical, cultural, artistic and natural heritage.
- Tanzania Trade Authority (TanTrade) helps producers find markets for their products throughout the world.
- The Arts & Culture Fund provides loans for art and cultural projects and activities by various stakeholders.
- The Tanzania Tourism Board is responsible for the promotion of cultural tourism in Tanzania.
- Training Institutions provide training to artists.
- Associations, Networks and NGOs are involved in supporting and facilitating the development of creative industries, including art and crafts.
- Art Collectors and Dealers provide sales outlets for artists and craftspeople.
